Committees

The Annual Banquet takes place on a targeted Tuesday evening in March and recognizes the contributions of select Member businesses/organizations for their incredible impact in the Chamber and community. 

Award Banquet Duties: Plans Annual Banquet by deciding on a theme (finding subsequent decorations), books venue, works on dinner menu and helps secure sponsorships and solicits for and puts together auction items. Day of the event: volunteers will set up/tear down, run registration, sell raffle tickets, etc.

Awards Duties: Committee will meet in December to review application and set up voting process.  Will then select winners based on member submissions for Business of the Year, Business Person of the Year, Organization of the Year, Legacy Award & Maple Leaf awards to be recognized at Annual Banquet.

The Scholarship committee awards two+ $1,000 scholarships to deserving area High School students who reside in the 44024 footprint, pursuing college or the trades.  They will meet in November to review the application process and have information ready to send to the local schools before Winter Break.  They will meet in early February to decide on winner(s) so they may present scholarship “checks” at Annual Banquet. They will also present this information at the local school’s Awards Ceremony in the Spring (typically held in May).

Scholarship Duties: Reviews applications, may conduct interviews with selected candidates and chooses winner(s).  Actively participates with and engages students at Annual Banquet and school awards ceremony.  Works on fundraising ideas in conjunction with other events to sustain Scholarship funds.

The Annual Golf Outing takes place the 2^nd Friday of August at a member golf course.  This is one of the CACC’s bigger fundraisers and requires all hands on deck – committee members MUST attend event.  There will be monthly meetings, with more needed as date approaches.

Golf Outing Duties: Committee members will help plan the outing (structure in place – contributes to event activities, fundraising ideas, golf prize procurement). Biggest role is to solicit for sponsorship opportunities and prizes to be raffled off at event. Committee members will also volunteer and/or play in the outing that day and will be responsible for securing additional volunteers.

The Annual Car & Bike show takes place on a designated Sunday in July.  This is one of the CACC’s bigger fundraisers and requires all hands on deck – committee members MUST attend event.  There will be monthly meetings taking place at 11:30a on the 4^th Tuesday of the month, with more needed as date approaches.

Car & Bike Show Duties: Plans July Car & Bike Show (structure in place – contributes to fundraising ideas, making the event more engaging, and marketing to the community). Members may focus on one of the sub-committees which include: Parking, Registration, Raffles and Concessions. Biggest role is to solicit for sponsorship opportunities and prizes to be raffled off at event. Committee members will also volunteer by helping set up the night before, and will help run the show on the day of and will be responsible for securing additional volunteers.

Fundraising Duties: Meets at least once per quarter.  Develops and executes fundraising ideas either big or small scale.  Ideas may be incorporated into existing events/programming or will be implemented in a standalone event.  Will need to work with other committees to incorporate ideas into their events.

Membership/Ambassador Duties: Meets at least once per quarter.  Recruits new business/org members and focuses on member retention by making phone calls or issuing email correspondence with them.  Acts as ambassador to members to guide them at networking events or encourages them to volunteer/participate in Chamber activities.  Corresponds with members to explore needs and educates members on Chamber tools + resources.

Programming Duties: Works with E.D. to plan upcoming year’s programming schedule.  Finds hosts, sponsors and venues for networking events i.e. coffee connections, lunch + learns, business after hours and ribbon cuttings.  Will keep a pulse on attendance and may make suggestions for informational programs and collaborative networking events.  Is encouraged to attend as many events as possible, especially ribbon cuttings.

The Easter Egg Hunt takes place rain/snow or shine the day before Easter. 

East Egg Hunt Duties: Plans Easter Egg Hunt by soliciting for sponsorship/candy + gift donations, will stuff eggs or find members to aid with this process, and puts together award baskets. Volunteers at the event by setting up/tearing down.  Secures other volunteers for day of event.

Marketing & PR Duties: To meet at least once per quarter.  Develops marketing strategies and issues press releases.  Utilizes Eblasts, FB and other social media to convey Chamber information.  May work with other committees to conduct marketing campaigns for big fundraising events making sure materials are consistent and appealing.  Reviews website to make sure that it remains functional and displays proper information. May aid with creation of picture/videos, design/ordering of marketing materials which may include signs, banners, shirts, etc.

Legislative Duties: The Legislative Committee focuses on government relations, advocacy and community engagement by planning quarterly spotlight breakfasts, providing relevant data through the quarterly newsletter, and enhances visibility with elected officials.  Provides non-partisan information on candidates, legislative proposals and regulations that impact local businesses.

The Chardon Magazine is an annual publication that aims to highlight the local business scene and bring pertinent economic-related information to those that live in the 44024 footprint.  The goal is to highlight Chamber members and create a marketing tool for their businesses.  This project also provides non-due revenue to the Chamber through advertisement commission. 

Chardon Magazine Duties: Brainstorms story ideas for Chardon Magazine.  Works alongside publisher to submit story requests, reviews content and distribution information, disseminates advertising opportunities information to Chamber members and keeps track of upcoming commission and payment.  Works with City and local organizations to put together an event calendar.  The Magazine to be in hand before Maple Festival for public distribution.
